PRODUCE specialise in growing chemical free gourmet potatoes.
The potatoes,
grown on the family farm, became so popular amongst family and
friends in recent years, Peter & Kate Allport decided to
share their hobby and source and sow varieties not commonly
seen in the supermarkets.
This has proved popular
with market goers and local caterers, who have welcomed the
availability of locally grown, freshly dug spuds!
Varieties grown include:
MARANCA – a
beautiful, large, waxy fleshed variety, ideal for roasting.
RUBY LOU- red skinned,
white fleshed variety which makes the perfect mash.
SAPPHIRE- purple
fleshed variety which will make you look like a Master Chef
when you serve it as Purple Potato Salad, contrasted against
some fresh green herbs!
CRANBERRY RED - a
new red fleshed variety for 2012. Like the Sapphires, open your
mind to the possibilities…coloured gnocchi? Red or purple
mash for the kids? Blend Ruby Lou, Sapphire and Cranberry Reds
for a RED, WHITE and BLUE (well PURPLE) salad…the possibilities
are so exciting!
CARRERA LOW-CARB
– again, a new variety of potato and one which diabetics
and those watching their weight will appreciate.
Available seasonally
(January through to mid –year), Allport Potatoes are grown
in the rich red Basalt soil on top of the Great Dividing Range….the
perfect spot for the humble spud to flourish.
