CUDGEGONG
VALLEY OLIVES
Oil
maker, David Cockerill, has been producing extra virgin olive oil
and table oilves on the banks of the Cudgegong River since the early
1990s. He launched his own label, Cudgegong Valley Olives, after
working extensively in Italian oil producing regions and throughout
Australia.
Set high amidst
the picturesque hills of Mudgee, NSW, the eight hectare olive grove
thrives in conditions akin to the slopes of Tuscany, characterised
by high altitude and a predominately cool climate. Tuscan olives
varieties of Correiolio, Leccino,Pendolino and Frantoio have been
planted to capitalise on the unique traditional , flavoursome Italian
oil.
David is a contributing member of the Australian Olive Association
since its inception and has won several awards for Cudgegong Valley
extra virgin olive oil an the national association's annual industry
awards.
