Why has the food scene in Mudgee has been getting so much press lately? That’s because there’s more to Mudgee than just great olive oil and honey! To satisfy both your appetite, and your curiosity, Mudgee Fine Foods is bringing together all levels of food producers and presenting the best of their work at the produce-driven inaugural Mudgee Local Lunch.
Prepare yourself for a relaxed and informative afternoon of food and wine in the best long lunch style. A variety of producers will be presenting their produce, and speaking on how and why they have such a passion for what they do. Lunchers will have the opportunity to engage with many of the producers and find out exactly why the product is so good!
We’ve scoured the Farmers Markets, paddocks and gardens of the Mudgee Region to bring you all the best delights on offer. Feast your way through 8 courses, including a Whole Lamb Spit Roasted by Mudgee Lamb; Pipeclay Pumphouse Salumi Platter; Gundooee Organics Wagyu beef with fresh horseradish paste. salads to delight, and sourdough flower-pot bread. Not full yet? See if you can sample all the sweet treats on offer too!
We counsel a light breakfast and also suggest not making any dinner reservations!
Wine will flow like nectar from the Gods, supplied by the most savvy of the host of great Mudgee vignerons. From Sparkling Shiraz to start the festivities, all the way to Port complementing the cheese and dried local figs; you may consider having the taxi contact on your phone. There will be non-alcoholic drinks for those wishing to abstain, however we still strongly advise against bringing the kiddies.
Tickets are $94 and will be available on the Mudgee Fine Foods website, and at the Mudgee Region Visitor Information Centre, Market Street Mudgee.
