Mudgee Fine
Foods Inc (MFFI) is made up of a band of enthusiastic specialist
food producers from the Mudgee Region. Our main focus is our
monthly Farmers Market held on the third
Saturday of each month in the grounds of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church on the corner of Market and Church streets in
Mudgee.
The Farmers Market movement has led a revival in regional food
production and continues to play an important role as Australian
farmers move towards more sustainable agricultural systems.
The Markets not only act as an incubator, by providing an outlet
for small farm businesses, and an important education tool;
but also allow communities to buy their food from local producers
and therefore keep their communities strong.
Another of our main activity is our Mudgee Fine Food
Awards. These annual awards are run in September to
coincide with the Mudgee
Wine Grape Growers' September Wine Festival. Growing strongly
each year, the Fine Food Awards allows specialist food producers
an opportunity to benchmark their products in a professionally
run regional show, solely focused on improving the quality and
assisting the marketing of food products.
Farm Walks are an exciting way to get down
to the grass roots level of food production. If you’ve
ever wondered what ‘free range’ means, or want to
show the kids where their food comes from, check the Farm
Walks Calendar, and get on out there.
